How to use Dapper to connect to MySql?

asp.net c# dapper mysql

Question

I'm brand-new to.NET. I'm interested in utilizing the Dapper micro-ORM to connect an ASP.NET application to a MySQL backend.

Will this work? What do I need to understand in order to begin?

Dapper is essentially DB agnostic and is compatible with any backend. All you have to do is provide a legitimate and openMySQL .NET connection.

From the website:

Dapper has no DB specific implementation details, it works across all .net ado providers including sqlite, sqlce, firebird, oracle, MySQL and SQL Server

Additionally, click this link for the full test suite for Dapper, which includes many helpful examples: https://github.com/StackExchange/Dapper/blob/master/Dapper.Tests.

There is also a link here to several tests tailored to MySQL: https://github.com/StackExchange/Dapper/blob/master/Dapper.Tests/Providers/MySQLTests.cs
